Happy St Patrick’s Day! Drink loads of Guinness, whether you like it or not. Maybe even throw down some Jameson’s. But absolutely make sure you wear a silly hat.

And while you’re doing all of that, what music are you going to listen to? Well, The Pogues, obviously! Every single member of the band is from England but don’t let that minor detail distract you from your stout and whisky-themed cultural appropriation.

Here’s a primer for which Pogues songs you want to be selecting on your streaming platform of choice on this fine Day of St Patrick, based on nothing other than my own personal tastes.

(Please note, according to Spotify, the most popular Pogues song is “A Fairytale of New York”, which also includes the incredible Kirsty MacColl, but it’s not Christmas so you can’t include that one. I probably wouldn’t anyway. There’s much better to choose from.)
